| Parent Support Group
The Family Resource Center offers parental support groups
designed to teach parents new skills and coping strategies
to make parenting their and children easier. The program
focuses on improving child/parent, family/school
relationships and discovering the many community resources
available. Our parental support groups highlight new
strategies to cope with doing homework, talking to teachers
effectively, dealing with food or sleep issues, and how to
parent as a team. By
teaching parents to detect and strategically deal with
family situations, we are providing our next generation of
children with the tools to effectively cope and reach their
potential of success.
Its
Objectives & Goals
This project
proposes a series of interactive workshops allowing the
participants the opportunity to vocalize their concerns,
obtain valuable information and learn practical strategies
to cognitively instruct their children.
We believe that many parents would welcome new strategies on
how to develop their skills and how to address discipline
issues. We believe that other competencies such as sharing,
co-operation, decision-making and problem solving are of
interest to our parents. Parental workshops would include
topics such as discipline, advocacy and the encouragement of
multi-skill development.
The
Groups accept 12 members maximum.
Our
next sessions will begin in
September 20, 2010.
The
group meets every Monday
evening from
7:30
p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
