12 WEEK SOCIAL SKILLS PROGRAM (ages 4 - 8 years)

Children will learn the fundamental social skills that they need in order to attain social success.

Skills are learned through hands-on activities, art, drama, music and play.

Sessions are catered to meet the specific needs of each child.

Children are presented the opportunity to discuss their feelings and concerns in a safe, positive and confidential environment.

Sessions are offered in two steps:

  • Needs Assessment: parents meet with the Family Resource Center staff to discuss the child’s history and needs, and develop a plan of action.

  • Weekly sessions: sessions are offered one-on-one, once per week for one hour.

Sessions are catered to meet the specific needs of each child.

Sessions are offered in two steps:

Programs are offered in the following package formats:

Package #1 - Teamwork Building (3 sessions)

  • Self-Esteem and Learning Styles

  • Teamwork (group dynamics, roles, decision-making, conflict resolution)

  • Time-management and organization in a group

Package #2 - Personal Organization and Time Management (4 sessions)

  • Self-Esteem and Learning Styles

  • Teamwork (group dynamics, roles, decision-making, conflict resolution)

  • Time-management

  • Personal study space

Package #3 - Skills for School (7 sessions)

  • Self-esteem and learning styles

  • Note-taking (from oral)

  • Note-taking (from written)

  • Homework

  • Study Techniques

  • Test-taking

  • Oral Presentations

  • Children will be able to learn about what values are important, how to implement these values and make themselves global citizens.

    Workshops are offered one Saturday per month for 2 hours.
